Dr. Ajay Sood, MD

Lead Psychiatrist

 

Dr. Sood was raised in Charleston, South Carolina. After completing high school at the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then returned to Charleston to attend the Medical University of South Carolina, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 2004.


Following medical school, Dr. Sood completed his adult psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia before returning to MUSC to complete a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr. Sood brings more than 20 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, having worked across a wide range of settings including inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment centers. His broad clinical background allows him to provide thoughtful, comprehensive care to children, adolescents, and adults.


Outside of his professional work, Dr. Sood enjoys cooking, collecting music, and spending time with his children.
